AFM Church
About Us
We are glad you are here, you have taken your time to browse through:
We are part of the AFM in South Africa. AFM stands for “Apostolic Faith Mission.”
AFM Roodepoort Prayer Centre was pioneered in 2014 by Pastor Alfred Jiriji and his wife. With the assistance of an experienced and committed team, Pastor Jiriji facilitates an ever growing and empowering ministry based on evangelism and winning of souls.
Our mission is to reach people, make disciples and build relationships. At AFM Roodepoort we place emphasis on helping you and your family connect with God and others. You can find meaningful connections, tools to grow your faith in God and real – life application of biblical teachings.
We offer a welcoming and warm environment to anyone seeking a place to worship as a family. There is no better place to be than in the house of the Lord. We welcome the young, old and families from all walks of life
Our Belief's
God
God is the Creator of the universe and our always-faithful loving Father.
Jn. 1:1–5; Is. 40:28; 1 Cor. 8:6
The Trinity
God exists as one being in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each have different roles but all are equally God.
Matt. 28:19; Jn. 15:26; 2 Cor. 13:14
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, both man and God. He lived a sinless life, was crucified, died, and was buried. After three days, he rose again and broke the power of sin and death. He will return again to reign as King of kings.
Is. 9:6; Mk. 1:9–11; 1 Cor. 14:3–4
Water Baptism and holy communion
We believe in the Lord’s ordinance of Water Baptism as a confirmation of the believer’s salvation experience in Christ and communion as a remembrance and celebration of the Lord’s death.
Romans 6:3-4; 1Peter 3:21
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit lives in every believer, providing guidance and understanding as we become more like Christ.
Jn. 14:16–17; Jn. 16:7–13; 1 Cor. 2:12
The Bible
The Bible is God’s word. The Old and New Testaments are authoritative and provide instruction and wisdom for daily life.
2 Tim. 3:16–17; 2 Pet. 1:20–21; 2 Tim. 1:13
Eternity
We were created to exist forever. All people will either spend eternity with God, or separated from him.
Jn. 3:16; 1 Jn. 2:25; Rom. 6:23
The Great Commission
We believe in the Great Commission to preach the Gospel in all the world and the laying on of hands to heal the sick and deliver the oppressed.
Matthew 9:35; Mark 16:17-18
Salvation
Salvation is a free gift and comes from believing in Jesus Christ who paid for humanity’s sins on the Cross and rose again from the dead. By trusting in Him, we are saved and can have eternal life with God.
Eph. 2:8–9; Jn. 1:12
The Church
The Church is a community of believers unified through faith in Jesus Christ, meant to serve one another and the world in love.
Matt. 16:18–19; Acts 2:41–47; 1 Cor. 7:17
Marriage
We believe in the institution of marriage. Strong marriages make strong families, strong families make for strong churches, communities and ultimately a strong nation. Marriage is a divine covenant between a man and a woman from which children are nurtured and trained to become leaders of the next generation. Strong families are the building block of our society, the hope for future generations. We believe in passing on a legacy of faith to our children by a thorough grounding of God’s Word.
Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:22-33; Deuteronomy 6:4-7; Ephesians 6:1-4
